There is almost no difference between those screens

Yes there is, but it's so insignificant you shouldn't even care about.

Mostly lighting and draw distance. For example, the 'extreme' settings lets you see a crate at the end of the room where the 'very good' settings just doesn't draw it.

Companies that develop for PC have my support and will get my money. Crytek can go to hell.
DX10 was also somewhat of an afterthought on crysis. There was an outrage about VH being locked to DX10 and most agreed on the fact that they used some part of DX10 but it wasn't build around it. I guess it was similar to DX11 in BC2 or something.
@Bolded nope, this is crysis2-designed-from-the-ground-up-to-work-on-both-consoles-and-pc

Those don't just randomly pop up like a stiffy in middle school. The editors are EXTREMELY important, even for those that don't specifically use them...just for that purpose. So we can benefit from community mods. No editor, no mods.

Second part that's wrong:
This is FREAKING CRYSIS 2. Umm, hello? Crysis 1 has been the graphical benchmark since 2007. Crysis 1 is the ENTIRE REASON that I have the rig that I have today (well, that and GTA IV). I couldn't rest until I could max out both of those games with mods. Of COURSE we have high expectations for the graphics on Crysis 2. It's freaking Crysis! Durr.

Seriously, how did you first hear about Crysis? I'll bet MONEY on it that you first heard about Crysis by the famed joke "can it run Crysis" because Crysis was such a graphics phenomenon for its day (still is).

If you seriously don't care about graphics, then you honestly would be better fit playing a silly little console toy.
ah I see, so, it's personal now? I mean how can Crytek mess up crysis so badly, your rig must be crying now, rofl, but, seriously, dude, stop being so condescending @ underlined. I mean, do you really think those who play on a console are going to care what you think about graphics? Fact of the matter is, those who own both a pc and console will tell you that they serve their own purposes and should remain as so I own a wii and my rig. Do I really think I care about the graphics on the wii? If I did, I wouldn't have gotten it in the first place BTW, I heard about crysis because I was pretty activate on the Nvidia forum when I built my rig and as a result, I gave the demo a try then bought the full version shortly after Had nothing to do with the "Can it run crysis" jokes.

For the advanced option config, who cares? It's a set of options that allows you to choose a greater shade of greys instead of white, grey and black (Low, Medium or High Detail). You were going to play the game for it's graphics? If so, sit back and think of how much of gamer you really are.

All this crying, for the sake of crying.

I agree, especially with that bolded part!

ROFL get over it. The 'community' is a bunch of childish whiners who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. They FILL forums with their rants and cries and in reality they're 3% of the PC gaming community!

And btw, whats with the hypocritical notion that the < 3% of PC gamers can cry their own personal tsunami to attack Crysis 2 island, but the other 97% of us can't defend it? I'm part Japanese btw so don't give me any flak for using the words 'tsunami' and 'island'

Please for the love of god, take me back to 2004, before all the console fanboys jumped over to the PC side and made us as bad as them.
True indeed, OCN has become too much of a whinefest lately

As for avoiding threads where people are whining, that would be most of the news threads on OCN. People whining about ATi drivers, Nvidia's cards that can fry an egg, Apple's expensive products that can't run flash, PC games that are console ports, etc.
Thank you, most don't seem to comprehend that message. NO developer owes you anything. You like crysis 2, buy it, you don't like it, don't buy it, it's really that simple. Let those who will/might enjoy the game play it and go play another game or something

I agree, they really need to go outside. Follow these steps:
1. Press start
2. Click shutdown
3. Turn off monitor and speakers.
4. Open the door and go outside
5. Profit!

To answer some of the ideas above, DX11 could be patched in and will be. There is a good chance that it's locked and when they release the patch, it'll unlock the options. Personally, I could careless about graphics settings, since, I try to set everything to max. If I can't, then I go to the next lowest one, much nicer that way instead of having to tweak every single setting for the best fps, but, that's me and everything has their own opinion. I haven't decided if I will preorder yet but I might just go and buy it directly from the store, no need to preorder then

You just.. couldn't be more wrong. Seriously, it's hard to start.
I know better than the people?! Who, the whiny minority!? Face it, there are only a handful of people crying about the game and they're doing it OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Steam hardware survey confirmed 5.6% of people can run Dx 11, and of that 5.6%, i'd bet less than half are complaining. So less than 3% of ALL PC GAMERS are whining. Does that sound like 'the people' to you?! Maybe in a monarchy.....

Actually no, there isn't a huge difference. A huge difference is going from GoldenEye 64 to Crysis 1.

Seriously?
Not only do you need a Dx 10 GPU but you need Vista/Win 7 also. On top of that, you've got Dx 10 and then the REAL Dx 10.1, which is an issue too. Oh and about the 50%......

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

53.36% of users using Dx10. Now who's ignorant? Must suck to be clowned by a rap lover.

So basically I called it right a week or so ago when I said that the majority of people crying about the graphics behind Cyrsis 2 just wanted to justify their GPU/CPU purchase. You spent more than you needed to and now you want something to justify it.

As always, the instant that we have news/an announcement to make, it's made. We want to share as much information with you guys as we can and we do as soon as we can.

As it has been announced, Crysis 2 will support DX11: http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/115/1153248p1.html
And modding information has also been touched on recently: Crytek to release UDK alternative

When we've got more information on both of these topics it will be posted within nano-seconds (pardon the pun)

The funny thing is that everyone will have their choice of DX once the patch is released.
DX9, 10 or 11. It nice to debate about it but I'm sure we'll be satisfied in the end.

Seems like Nvidia has control of DX11 for Crysis, and they are the real douche bags for not releasing any info on it if so. Crytek could have a NDA on DX11 for all we know. What Crytek is doing has Nvidia fignerprints all over it. They even pushed back the release date of Crysis 2 for Nvidia, then again to March 24th. That says alot about who has control over the information being released.

Nvidia says: The GTX 590 is the only card that can handle Crysis 2 DX11 performance" or something like that.

I honestly, really DO want Crysis 2 to be what it should be. A graphical benchmark to follow us for the NEXT 4 years, and a great game to play too. But so far...I've seen nothing but console port from them, or "we'll patch it later".

I dunno, just my two cents. But yeah, I give up on posting it publicly anymore though. I just get flamed for it. Just because I'm not going to stand for Crytek crapping on us as a community.

That's your problem in the bold. You bought too much GPU and expected Crysis 2 to justify your purchase. All of 100 people give a .... about benchmarking. I, and most others, use it to determine what GPU is best for us. It's not some competition for us and it's not fun.

If there were 10 million benchmarkers then Crytek would make a game just for you guys and EVERYONE would be happy, but there isn't.
