Shogun 2 + New to RTS = bad idea? - Page 3

RTS covers a pretty wide spectrum of games, though all of the same breed.

Starcraft 2 is very fast paced (in multiplayer) where you have to perfect your build orders and be keeping constant tabs on the enemy to counter their specific units.

The Total War series (at least for me) is very slow paced. I take a lot of time during each turn to carefully think out my structures and troop movements. In the battlefield, I always try to play in slow motion. It's a very realistic simulation of mass combat, and thus very difficult for one person to control everything if you were playing at a normal or faster speed.

I see Total War games and Starcraft as different ends of the genre, and all the other games fall in between.

Thanks for all of the replies!
I bought it, as for Starcraft, it didn't interest me, those whole outer space theme didn't draw me in. The last RTS game I played was Warcraft 3.

How I got it for 20 dollars was from out of all places ,craigslist.

Shogun 2 is a must have. It is the staple of the Total War series, at least in my opinion.

Played a single player campaign as Takeda on normal mode -- became too big for my boots too early on and the Shogunatte decalred war on me. Very soon I had every single army hostile to me and got hit from everywhere, East, West, North, South and from the Sea. Next time I need to slow it down, make sure my economy is the awesome sauce before I advance!

In my COOP campaign with my mate we've racked up about 10 hours game time, our trade is just fantastic, we have every resource possible and some massive armies... 1-2 more provinces each and the Shogunatte are going to declare war... Playing it on COOP is brilliant but the game crashes a fair bit, and it's awful for the player who joins the hosted game because you can't use any controls to move around the battle map -- massive bug

yea ive had that same problem with my Coop cmpaign... it sure is a pain when it crashes.
IMO best clan to go is Boja
they get a gold mine with 4500 gold per turn once fully upgraded
they get a black smith
and they get a liabrary +20 to all mastery research
if you deside to take it early
I was able to get monks after 31 turns however i reckon i could do it faster if I had been trading with 2 of my close allies like from the start XD

Do you mean Hojo in the middle south? South of the Takeda. It's a fantastic place to start but in the end you'll get done from both sides, and the sea!

I like the clan on the left, they start with a weaponsmith and if you get your trade ships up early you'll get incense/cotton/silk -- then go after the people sharing your island until it's all yours!

Just wish it had less bugs and I'd be really happy with it.
