Same problem with low rams everywhere (planning on buying a new rig with 8gb of ram and sandy bridge, but i just can find any sandy bridge in egpyt)

i think the desktop would be nicer to work on multimedia stuff. You might want to get more rams since the more the better for multimedia stuff.

Plus when you are rendering things, i'm sure the laptop will get extremely hot.
