Just ordered a 6950 2GB! - Page 2

To those that say the fan is loud - ofcourse the fan will be loud if you crank it 80 - 100%. That is why you use a custom fan profile or stick to no more than 50% fan speed. Making a generic comment it is loud is not true. At 40 - 50% fan speed, the card will not break 70c depending on your case cooling. Aftermarket coolers are waste imo, unless you go water cooling.

85 C that's way too hot for my tastes.

i HAD mine unlocked (shaders only) and oc'd to 940/1475 24/7, but i had to crank it down to near stock because the remarkably crappy case i currently have it in has some of the worst airflow in the history of truly crappy cases. i liked the card so much i bought a second and unlocked it as well. just waiting for my case build to get done so i can crank em both up and see what kind of numbers i post.

also, for those who complain about noise w/ enthusiast class cards:

you're buying an enthusiast class card. furthermore, you're on a forum dedicated to pushing components to their limits. while it's understandable to mention a card has above average noise when pushed to the aforementioned limits (and as such requiring maximum cooling), it should be done so with less fervor than "if you ever want to hear again, don't buy this card".

perhaps you should invest in some water blocks. if you don't like that idea, i hear newegg has some motherboards w/ great on board video.
