Problem with R3E or CPU Cooler?

Thread Starter
Hello all, recently my rig stopped working and the R3E board displays the steady red "CPU LED". At first I wasn't sure if my cpu was working or not, so I placed it in another mobo, with the same psu, ram, gpu, AND different cooler (using stock cooler); and everything worked fine. So now I'm unsure if its the R3E or the H50, which was the cooler installed in the original set. I would like to note that a few days earlier, I have noticed a different sound when first starting up my pc. Usually at the first milliseconds of pressing the power button, I would hear the sudden sound of liquid rushing (due to the H50 just starting). However, recently I haven't heard that noise and now this happens. So I'm just wondering if anyone can offer any insight on my problem before I make the sudden decision of buying a new cooler.

The problem has nothing to do with your cooler. New sandy bridge processors can (but shouldn't) run without a cooler at all, and I bet the older one i7 would do that too. It was probably your old motherboard.
