Need advice on choosing a headset for PC gaming - Page 4

Why changing the mobo, can you just switch the Titanium for a Xonar DS or D1 as they are normal PCI cards?
I'm sure you'll be more happy with the Xonar. It's been said many times now - the only advantage of X-Fi is EAX5 and even creative admits that EAX has no future and supports Openal now...

I was raging for no reason lol

It's installing now. Quick question, I checked auto-mode switcher.. But I'm having second thoughts. I don't want it to switch to entertainment mode when I launch a game it doesn't recognize. Or do I manually add the games and applications to a list?

Also, my gtx 460 has hd audio.. Will it interfere with the xfi? Should I uninstall it? If so, how?

Thanks for bearing with me here guys. I'm going to be testing both my hd555 and ad700 on it. You guys know more than I do anyway.

Anything I should enable or disable before I start? Or should I start default and go from there?

Sounds to me like you bought a Creative card. I would uncheck it and leave everything on Audio Creation Mode with bit-matched playback. But for gaming you'll hear otherwise.

It won't interfere at all unless there's something wrong with your sound card. This is in fact a great way to know if you have a dud.

Disable everything! Audio Creation Mode + Bit-matched playback!

I'm having a problem..

It installed, but when I go to Sounds and Audio Devices, it's not available from the drop down menu. It's definitely connected right because it stated so when it tried to auto update when I rebooted. Also, under the hardware tab and even midi music playback, it shows Soundblaster X-Fi.

I uninstalled my XtremeGamer completely with Driver sweeper and CCleaner to wipe the registry info. I also can't launch Creative Audio console..

It's even listed in Device Manager as Creative SB X-Fi

Welcome to Creative's world. Screenshots of your issue would help. Also, check this thread: http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards...correctly.html

Only get the ZIP for the windows 7 detection file. You already have Driver Sweeper. Get your drivers from Creative's website and you don't even need the console launcher beta.

The Audio Console was taken out of the latest drivers for some reason.

I installed the audio console individually from an older driver pack (that I luckily had saved).

Make sure to run Creative Updater a few times to get all the latest stuff.

Great. No one told you that the Titanium HD is Windows 7 and Vista only?
