OP can`t you return the card?

Oh well. To each his own I guess.

If you like the Razer headset just stick with it and return that sound card. I would do that and start saving money for a new system. You will want a new system for when BF3 comes out this fall/winter.

Installed Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and the sound card works ;-)

Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it because since it's a fresh install I have to download all my games via steam.

I'm liking win7 so far. Boots faster and seems to perform better. Plus now I can get more than 2gb ram.

I'm gonna stick with this sound card and use my ad700s and hd555s. I'm gonna upgrade to an i7 CPU soon, not trying to rush like I was with sandybridge.

Does the hd555 mod really make them equivalent to the 595s? Will I notice a difference?

Also, in game mode, should svm be on? Cmss-3d? Eax? Crystalizer? Thanks

When gaming, I typically keep SVM off, CMSS off, EAX off and Crystallizer off.

Surprising. I figured you would have CMSS-3D on. So you're saying you leave all the features off or ...what do you have on on the card when you game? If not, why not just raise the treble via EQ on your Xonar?

I've only tested it on Entertainment mode so far and wow.. and this is with the HD555s.. although bass with Crystalizer too high makes them crackle.. other than that I hear separate vocal tracks clearly now.. this is just amazing lol.. gonna plug in the 700s in a few

I do leave all feaures off all the time. I have the TiHD in Audio Creation Mode with 44.1 kHz and bit-matched playback. It's not that the Xonar is missing treble and has overwhelming bass but rather the fact it doesn't position sounds like gunshots properly or it's completely eliminating them from output.
