2500k temp 73Deg good or too high.

Thread Starter
Hi. My average ambient temp are 32deg cel. I have 2500k at 4.7Ghz @ 1.32v. I'm using Arctic Silver 5 as TIM.For cooler I have Xspc rasa 750 kit but with Black ice GTX240 rad + 4 yate loon d12sh in push-pull. Under 100% load (prime 95 blend for 1hr) my temp reaches 73Deg is that ok or is it too high, considering my ambient and vcore.

Sounds about right with ambient temps that high. I hope to head your way for a vacation in the coming year.

Sounds kinda high for water, but your ambient is 32 so i suppose that's right.

72 is ok. I wouldn't go much higher though.

Thanks for all your confirmation. I was getting worried. I tried re-seating the waterblock a few times also. Actually I already ordered another xspc rs240 rad to add to the loop. Do you think it can drop my temp a few deg more?

Ok thanks. We have great weather almost all year round. Rainy around November to February. Somtimes August also. You'll surely enjoy your self. Just let me know when you're coming, I might give you a few tips.

Depends the difference between your water temperature and ambient right now. Adding an extra radiator will only bring the water temp closer to ambient, so if you have, say, a 6C difference between water and ambient now the most any extra rads can do is lower your temps by 6C (all other things being equal).

You will probably see a drop, but it won't be huge.

73C for 4.7GHz and a 32C ambient is decent though, nothing to worry about.

Your ambients are really the reason your temperatures are so bad. With 10C cooler ambient I get 67C load at 1.43V/4.9 GHz which is about 15% more power than the speed/volts that you mentioned. Your temperatures seem totally reasonable considering that your ambient is about 10C warmer than average.

Adding a second 240mm radiator really isn't going to do much, your water-air delta is already very low with that GTX 240 radiator and high speed fans.

Is there anything more I can do to bring down my temp (apart from lowering my vcore and frequency.)

When you say you have the Rasa kit with a GTX 240, does that mean that you are running two 240mm radiators at the moment? If so then another one isn't going to change things. Ways to reduce temperatures:

1. Lower your ambient temperatures. This is going to give you the biggest chance of dropping your CPU temp. A 10C drop in ambients is going to give you slightly more than 10C drop on your CPU, due to CPUs needing more power when they are hotter (electrical resistance rises with temperature). Can you place your computer so it draws in cooler air? Is there a AC outlet anywhere near which you can duct to the case inake?

2. Change your TIM. If you went for something like Shin Etsu you might see a degree or two drop, Indigo Xtreme might give you as much as 3C.

3. Reseat your block. When Skinnee did his TIM testing he found up to a 2C variance between his mounts using the same TIM. Keep in mind that he will do literally hundreds of mounts during the course of various tests, so he should be pretty good and consistent. A better mount might get you a few degrees.

Number 1 is your best bet, between 2 and 3 you might drop as much as 4-5C, depending on how things are now (e.g. how good your current mount is). Honestly though, 73C is good given your ambients.

I have only 1 Gtx240 right now. Another Xspc rs240 is in the post. As for TIM I have only Artic Silver and CoolerMaster High performance tim. I think I might try with the coolermaster one. Another 2 or 3 deg drop will be great for me...
Thanks
