I'm getting a second gtx 480 evga sc. and I'm not overclocking my cpu , will that be a problem?

thank you

It may cause a cpu based bottleneck, but all that will do is limit frame rates. It won't be a problem, but you won't get all the benefit of the second 480 at stock clocks.

Bump^ *Zoids ftw*

Umm yeah you prob be bottlenecking when you get it monitor your cpu and gpu usage.
Im sure that i am bottlenecked unless i hit something like 4.4Ghz.

But im on air so im just going to try and clock around a 3.8Ghz for now untill i find a place for a radiator WC setup inside my case.

3.8GHz should fix your bottleneck.

it will bottleneck your max FPS...

but it shouldn't bottleneck your min FPS...

so your gameplay will be better...

what happens when it bOttlenecks ? And what do you mean by bottlenecking my max fps

Thanks
This is just a hypothetical. If you OC your CPU to 4.2GHz, your average frame rate could be 300 fps instead of 250 fps at stock. It should not matter that much since 480 SLI is very fast already.
a bottleneck (there is always one somewhere)

influences the MAX/AVG/MIN FPS (in games)

In most cases it affects the max FPS and the AVG (because it isn't ramped up as much due to the higher max FPS)

i have noticed personally...

that with my CPU and 2x480s...

i don't get the same MAX fps as other people with 2x480s and intel cpus OCed to buggary...

But i get the same Min FPS and almost the same AVG FPS...

so to the person playing the game...

both appear to be just as smooth...

Problem is that I really have many question and I don't really know where I can find the answers...

is there any test(video) made by using sli cards and a stock cpu? because I don't really wanna mess up my cpu or any other component inside my case.

Here is a Video I made a month ago when I was playing Crysis Warhead...
Playing the most demanding map. wich gave me around 25-31 fps

If I go SLI that means I'll double the fps ... let's say 50-62 fps?
and what about my PSU? (1000w)
**monitor 24"

thank you
crysis is very GPU dependant... so yes the FPS will almost double
