Looking for a New Laptop - Page 2

actually i think i looked at the 8130 and thought the base model looked pretty good. i looked at mobile gpus one time and found that they were very expensive and not really worth the money, maybe that's changed.

i don't need a 17" screen, it just seems like there's a premium for getting a 15" monitor that makes it lose some value. i guess i can understand though, i mean there's a stronger market for desktop replacement than there is for mobile gaming.

i have a desktop rig that plays everything i want it to, but i do travel and i would still like to enjoy newer games. i understand i have to take a performance hit, but i felt like tanking every graphics setting isn't mobile gaming.

it also seems like a tough subject on here because people seem to think if you're not maxing it out then you're not playing it. it's like being able to run crysis at max is more important than actually playing the game and enjoying it.

but i digress. i'm going to look into some performance differences between my setup and an i7 and 460m or 6870m. if anyone has personal experience i would be very interested to hear.

Yeah I understand. Here's a list of the fps you can get in games without overclocking:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html

Mouse over the low med high ultra, to see what settings they used for each game. Ultra is the only one that uses 1920x1080.. As you can see the 460m and 6870m are a good bit more powerful then your 360m. But it's really up to you if its worth $1200+ for the better fps. In my opinion I think you should save your money; as the g60 is a decent laptop for mobile gaming, and your sig rig can play more demanding games just fine.

i actually fiddled with some of the settings and i got it more playable. i didn't get around a large group while i was playing the last time so i don't know if it stays stable, but it definitely is better for now.

i think i'll keep it around for a little bit longer. it's just hard to settle for the graphics on this when i have a rig that can run it just fine.

more people need to travel more often so we can get some more reasonable prices on mobile gaming machines.
