winsxs ***

Hi there,

sorry to bring this one up again , but what the heck , what the hell is containing in the the Windows folder winsxs ??? TOO MUCH , my poor baby SSD , I need to do something about it .. I read it's not a good thing to just delete things from it , but this is JUST RIDICULOUS , this makes me wanna get an APPLE .. ^^

Any advice would be helpful

This folder contains all the systems files for windows updates,service packs ect, say you wanna roll back from Sp2 in vista all the data to make that change possible is stored in this folder. I know vista has a clean up tool if you do start > run Compcln > then hit y it will clean up that directory. This does not work in Windows 7.. but if you google
"Compcln Windows 7" You'll find a way to do this for Windows 7.

It also contains different versions of .dlls, to maintain compatibility with programs that won't work with the latest versions. It will grow over time as more applications are installed that need certain versions of .dlls. This is one reason I wouldn't recommend a 40GB SSD unless it's ONLY for the OS (even applications installed elsewhere will still cause this folder to grow).
