Single/multiple rail PSU debate?

Thread Starter
We have all heard the debate over the single rail or multiple rail PSU.

I have for sure but I have always wondered what the differences have been, can someone help me understand the differences are or point me in the right way to some readings on it?

Are their certain factors that play into it? Like Intel/AMD or certain types of GPUs? OR do certain brands make better multiple or single rail? (<< worded badly, an example of what I mean is would a Cooler Master Multiple Rail be better than a Thermaltake Multiple rail?)

Also what do you guys recommend on choosing, I am due for a new PSU because I need more power for when I run my Crossfire setup in the next month or so any thoughts on single rail or multiple rail

Thanks

I've seen some strange misunderstandings regarding multi rail PSUs by people who have no idea about PSUs, like this: (PSU in question is 750W, has 4 rails, OCP set to 32A per rail).

Quote:
It has x4 12v rails giving a MAX of 32A available to the rails depending on the load over the rails .. It has a total of 57A MAX per rail which is 14.25A per rail nominal ..
Your card draws about 12.5A ( 150W ) ..
People who spread pull numbers out of their backside and spread disinformation like this should just shut up.
