GTX 570: Gigabyte vs MSI Twin Frozr

Thread Starter
I have decided to sell off my 2x GTX 460's in favor of a single card design.

I have owned both the Gigabyte 460 and the MSI 460 Hawk before I settled on the 460 Cyclones I have now.

The Gigabyte was whisper quiet, pretty amazing. However I couldn't get solid OC on it.

The Hawk was fricken gorgeous, but I got an even worse OC on that one because when I bought it Afterburner had a bug with that card preventing voltage changes. Also the twin frozr cooler was noticably louder even if it was relatively quiet compared to an EE fan.

The Cyclone was a good bet at that point, and I still say its the best gtx 460 on the market.

My question:
Which 570 to get? The Twin Frozr or the Gigabyte? Do either of them have VRM heatsinks this time? Any direct comparisons out there for decibels, heat, OC etc? (I havent found any).

I want the option to SLI in the future, although I doubt I'll ever bother with that. But that basically rules out the ASUS DirectCU because of it's three slot design. The Gainward everyone is talking about doesn't even seem available in the US...

Lastly, after a horrible experience with EVGA EE 460 model I'm afraid to bother with that style/brand again. Theres a Galaxy brand one for about $50 less, but probably a reason for that. Hence, Twin Frozr or Gigabyte?

Please let me know!

EVGA is a great brand. They even have a step-up program. EVGA is probably the best for NVIDIA especially for reliability and support. Out of the two, I've heard a lot of good things about the Twin Frozr.

I had an EVGA GTX 260 216 and loved it because of the performance, but that fan had an issue that you had to manually set it because the PWM feature didnt work.

Then I got the 460 EE and the fan was busted, but in a different way.

I am learning that me and EVGA don't get along well.

Both are good cards.

I'm assuming you are looking at the non-reference design Gigabyte one as well, the one with the 3 fans onboard?

If I had to choose a 570 again, I would go with the Gigabyte one, one more fan and they seem to have a better reputation if anything happens.
Should I upgrade?

Yes I was referring to the non-reference. The gigabyte is nice because it has combos with gigabyte motherboards, and I trusy gigabyte motherboards more than MSI ones. Hmm.

Everytime I look at the twin frozr cards I want one though lol. Is the gigabyte card longer than the twin frozr?

Must be the chrome on the card, it is attractive if you have a side window, otherwise I would go Gigabyte. Couldn't find definitive measurements of both cards. They're most likely the same approximate length, with the Gigabyte having the fans closer together and possibly using smaller fans than the Twin Frozr.

Are you planning to do a new build? New motherboard and etc?

new build? Yes kind of. I am selling a secondary machine outright (that my brother uses), and building him a new rig using one of the gtx 460's I am parting with. So he's getting a new system, I'm just upgrading my vid card.

The rig I am building for him will be very similar to my sig rig now.
