And, given the poor quality of Dell cases, you need a new case, too.

So:

new mb
new heatsink
new case
new psu

reuse RAM
reuse HD's
reuse gpu
reuse ODD
etc.

Save your money, don't buy until you have enough to buy the right stuff.

ahah thats the same pc my brother has. it wont kill it but you will never be able to remove the cpu or cooler without damage

Just try the Pentium D for your server. I tried the same swap and it didn't work though I was able to use a different heatsink with a "custom" hold-down bracket on the Pentium cpu. I actually used a piece of an 80mm fan grill to thread thru a heatsink, similar it how the AMD processor hold-downs work. and screw it down to 2 of the threaded holes. Works great if you want to try the Pentium D cpu. Good Luck.

I can upload pics of the setup that I created. It's ghetto but it works!

ive been running the Pentium D for about 2 months now and it just doesn't cut it
