First time lapping

So i lapped the heatsinks on the Xbox i was fixing up for someone today, i thought i did ok. I just sanded it to smoothen it and remove previous paste. Then just spreaded some fairy liquid on it with my finger, not being do delicate as its only an Xbox and it's not even my Xbox. I would post some picture of the GPU heatsink but that came out horrible i think, too embarrassing.Anyway here's a few of the CPU i did. Please feed back, share tips.

Couldn't find nothing smooth, think is was around 600 grit really am not sure can you suggest what grits i should use in order to come out with the best finish?

I really wouldn't risk lapping your 2500.

That's too low. 1000 grit would be the minimum to make it flat enough. With 600 grit you will still have some rough spots.

I would use 800-1000-1200-1500-2000. You could skip the 1200, but sometimes can make it easier. You could go 2500, but that would be unnecessary.

Also don't use metal polishes, that creates tiny micro pockets.
