{HELP} Looking for a Gaming Headset

Thread Starter
Hi, as the title says, I'm looking for a new gaming headset. I used to have a Plantronics GameCom 777 (that broke a few days ago)

Whats the most important aspect for me is confortability. My old plantronics would hurt my ears after a few hours of gaming.

Also I would like something not too expensive. (Around 50-70 CDN$)

I was thinking of something like this :

http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...s&promoid=1280

What do you guys think ? do you have any suggestion ?

I'd save up a little bit more for something along the lines of an Audio Technica ATH AD700. Night and day difference between that and the headphones you listed, both in sound quality and comfort.

You could get something like the JVC HA-RX700 ($35) + a Zalman Clip on mic (`bout $15) for the same price. You would get better SQ from the HARXs too.
Look around on the OCN for sale section for some good cans, I saw some RX-700`s for sale a few days ago. Try head-fi.

OR use this

You can always just RMA the Gamecomm, or not, just send it to me and I'll RMA it

JVC RX700/900 are good considerations. With a Zalman mic they total $55 (700+mic)/$75 (900+mic).

As chuck said, stretching a little will go a long way with the AD700s. Those are $90 (without mic).

when i said it broke i meant it broke in pieces ... build quality = bad :/ everything was plastic

and thanks for the answers but right now i really need a headset and sound quality isnt the most important aspect for me ... I just need it to be super comfy. Is the steelserie H5 not comfy ? how about Razer carcharias ? Corsair HS1 ?

The thing about headphones, is that sound quality generally scales with build quality.

JVC HA-RX700 ($35) + this mod here http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/...-ha-rx700-mods = comfort . Add a zalman mic and your good to go.

Gaming headsets at this price-range generally underperform for the money and/or have very crappy build quality. Some (like turtle beach`s) have an ENOURMOUS amount of bass, to the point that if an explosion goes of on the other side of the map you can`t hear ANYTHING for 10 seconds because it sounds like Hiroshima is happening next to your ear.

Anything you can hear with the headphone off is what other people will hear if you go with a zalman clip-on mic. Anyone that has to listen to you on mumble/ventrilo won't like hearing all kinds of background noise when you talk.
