Recommended PSU

Hey, i think my PSU is dying out. If i try and run a game that slightly challenges my gpu i black screen, so ive sortof deduced that its a psu problem (mainly cause its cheaper to replace)
So my specs are:

windows 7
4gb RAM
i7 870 2.8ghz quad core
ATI radeon 5750

Ive currently been using a 450w psu, but i figure i should go higher this time.
Any suggestions?
(About the reason for black screens or a new psu)
Thanks

What make/model is your current PSU? And are you sure your GPU clocks are stable? It sounds as though your driver is crashing, which is very common with AMD/ATI cards that aren't completely stable.

Its a corsair im sure, but ill open it up tomorrow and get the model.
CCC tells me that my clocks are fine, theyre just on the lowest setting each so i wouldnt think it should be a problem

This is more than enough and will have you covered for any upgrades that you may want to make.

I concur. Corsair makes boss PSUs...and it doesn't sound like your system should overdraw on a 450.

Yeah, it sounds like it could be either unstable drivers or the PSU (card can't draw enough power).

I don't know if you have, but do the basic things, driver updates (maybe corrupt drivers?).

And if you are set on getting a new PSU check this out:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9017&Tpk=430cx

I've seen that PSU as low as $30 w/ MIR.

Either unstable drivers or you PSU is failing. Try reinstalling your current drivers, or installing previous 5750 drivers.

There is no way the PSU isn't providing your system with enough power. At load, the i7 870 draws around 180W while the 5750 draws around 85W.

If your PSU is failing, I would grab this while it's on sale.

Your rig won't draw more than 250-300w... so unless that Corsair unit is faulty then it isn't related to power.
