HD 6990 Crossfire X vs 580 3 way SLI

Thread Starter

Just ran into this video on youtube - Compares the best of the best out at the moment. Pretty awesome results, I'm not taking sides as I use to buy only ATI and have just recently switched to Nvidia. Anyway.. I'm surprised at how little power the 2 6990s eat.. very impressive

Enjoy!

That's pretty cool. Expensive rigs though. I'll be curious to see how the 590 compares in quad sli.

Wow, it's practically the same thing in price/frame ratio.

Eh the drivers are not yet optimized for those two cards in Crossfire I don't think, that and they are downclocked to conform with the 300W PCIE spec.

All of the GPUs are at stock. It should be noted under regular cooling the 580 can easily reach 900 core and upwards of 1Ghz under water. So the review stands. Great review, I will be picking up another 580 here soon hopefully.

I thought 6990s were 830 at stock. Their GPUz said 880. 580s may have had a slight overclock as well.

Sorry you are right.

But the 580s are stock (they are SC units). Either way, point being they can both go substantially higher.

I would imagine anyone dropping that kind of cash to buy those setups would aggressively overclock them. I would be interested in seeing those benchmarks as well. I like how this comparison was done though.
