How does my OC look??

Thread Starter
I'm just getting my SB rig up and running and was playing with the overclocks. I guess you could say I'm still a noob at all this as I'm not sure what 90% of the features in the BIOS are Any way I got to 5.0ghz at 1.39v in the bios. I made 10 passes of IBT set at maximum and am running prime95 small fft as I type this. My temps are hovering around 65-69. I'm going to swap ones of my top fans over to see if it helps the temps and maybe reset the cpu cooler. I'm getting an 8-10c lower on core0.

see if you can lower the voltage a bit, but otherwise it looks good.

Its still running and I went through 10 passes of Intel Burn Test before I took the screen lol. I'm at like 45 minutes now with no issues yet and I'm still able to use the rig normally. I figure I'll run it for about 2 hours and then run the blend for a bit to see what happens.

Ok so I ran small fft's for an hour and forty five minutes with no errors and played a bit of mw2 and some Bc2 without issue. I went on to the blend test and it BSOD'd within an hour. I upped the voltage to 1.41v and blend has been running for roughly an our and a half with no problems yet and temps are about the same. I'm gonna let it run over night and see where I'm in the morning. If this fails what should be my next step to try and get this stable at 5ghz? I feel it's pretty close so maybe a more seasoned overclocker can help me fill in what I'm missing.

blend will stress your hardware beyond anything else it will go through in everyday use. even in gaming. many people will say that it needs to pass 12 hours of blend to be considered stable, but i think 2 hours would be fine. don't worry as much about temps in prime95 as it stresses it more than any games would.

for gaming, your 460 sc will be be more important than the cpu clocks as far as fps go. just throwing that out there

Blend test was still running this morning with no errors. That's 9 hours and 15 minutes according to the log. The temps were sitting at 66c this morning before I stopped the test. I thinks it's pretty stable Is their any other stability test I should run?

Nope, Blend is the best stability test for SB CPUs as of now.

Now try to lower the voltage a bit. Good luck!

Well, my cpu was 8h+ blend stable but gave me a BSOD within an hour of regular gaming and just using my pc.. Wich im still rather suprised by.
