C300 Firmware Installation Help

Thread Starter
Hello,
I have an Alienware M11XR2 which has no disk drive. My C300 just arrived. The crucial website says to burn the firmware to a cd, but since I don't have one I tried creating a bootable USB. I opened up an elevated command prompt and did:

diskpart
(diskpart opened)
list disk
select disk x
clean all
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat(32? > 2gb) quick
assign
exit

I then extracted the ISO using Winrar, but the computer will not boot from the USB. How can I create a bootable USB from the firmware ISO?
Thanks,
-Falven

This update can't be done through the OS, needs to be done at boottime :/
Anything that can boot from a CD can boot from a USB Flash drive, it's a matter of doing it right :] I've only ever done it right with Windows 7/Linux...

I made a bootable USB guide and download here for updating C300
http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-St...-p/24151#M8221

Ber sure to read it all before you get started, some people had issues at first so I made an addendum to the original post.
