What if..

Okay, this is a bit more than a what if, but what if you had a lot of money to spend on a new build? For me, I'm sorta in that situation. I'm selling my current PC soon for like 700-800 probably. Why? It's not cutting it for me anymore. Too loud, it's decaying, I never cleaned out the dust, etc... Plus I have 500 in the bank right now, and am saving up for the next month or two.

Three years ago, I came to the Overclock community with very little knowledge about computers, and I've learned a lot since. However as of last year, I've lost touch with computers, in exchange for cell phone knowledge(my job). I did very little research, I made a topic in the AMD section inquiring a bit about what AMD build could be good. Someone ended up posting with the response, AMD is still behind Intel. With that being said, I'm still open to AMD. But I do prefer Intel, as well as Nvidia. But I'm open to anything.

What I'm looking for, a top of the line performance computer. I don't want it to meet requirements, I want it to be overkill. I don't plan on buying all the parts at once, probably 3 or 4 transactions all together. Probably won't even make the first purchase until after I move(2 months). But I want to know a head of time what to look for, what to search and read over. Plus being able to price things well ahead of time helps.

Sorry guys, I know I'm posting this on Overclocking.net, but I don't plan on OCing anything.

I don't want two GPUs. Not interested in a sound card as of the moment. I would prefer a tooless case. An easy to install cooler -_-

This is what I have so far, of course I'm open to all suggestions!

id say go with a 980x 6 core, a radeon 6990, a nice 1366 socket EVGA mobo

out of the cases you have listed, my personal favorite is the cooler master

for a CPU cooler, id say either a custom Watercooling Loop, or get yourself a Megahalems with push/pull fans

and if i was you, id trade in that asus cd drive for a sony DVD-R +/- Dual Layer 16x DVD burner

I don't know a thing about water cooling, is it easy to install and maintain? Is it THAT much better?

For the CPU/GPU, I only want to spend 1000 between the both.

if thats too much then ill cut back a bit

watercooling is easy to maintain, take a couple hours to route tubing but otherwise, you clean the rad every few months with a can of air, and your good

get a newer tech cpu, 1155 pin 2600k and 580 gpu get watercooling system and start overclocking You cant go wrong. 1366 draws more power, if your not into heavy incodeing the 2600k is to much 2500k will do ya fine. power draw on my rig (cpu load) is ~400, 2600k @ same overclocks. 200watts. SO, if you pay for power bills and not going 3way sli 1155 pin is for you. as for the power ax1200 NO go. i had one killed a ssd and a platter drive. its a flatronics inside. the ax850 is seasconic . so i would go with that.

As for case i love my plane jane 700d. looks great and hides water cooling tubes.

Nope, I looked them up, the prices, they're great! I question the motherboard though, what's with that? It really looks badass, but what's that all about?

Also, is watercooling worth it if I'm not overclocking?

Ya i cleaned it up tho where from new fans installed all hideing now

overclocking is worth is (OVERCLOCK>NET) Anyways u can get 2600k up to 5ghz, is no joke in cpu power. I would not get 570 alot die from the cheap 4 phase power in them , 580 is KING. but 560ti is no joke in sli.

580 it is. Brand preference? I like EVGA personally, but is there every one really better than the other? I'm looking at the super clocked one by EVGA, for like 20 bucks more. Jump on that?
