My First Sever Build....Would like some input - Page 2

Thread Starter
After several days of contemplating and researching on what to do I decided that I am going to keep the following setup but will change the raid 5 configuration to 4 disks instead 5 and keep 1 as hot swap in case something goes wrongs. The reason being that the ICH9R doesn't recognize the 4096 sector size on the drive and is looking for a 512 sectors and will not initialize the disk, therefore I will have but no choice but to do a software raid 5 via server 2008 R2.

In light of the situation I will configure a Raid 1 for the OS with 2 WD6400AAKKS via the ICH9R. Hopefully that should keep things pretty nice and stable.

What do you guys think?

Haha. I meant personal, not racks like businesses or data centers. For example, my box is just a mid tower PC running WHS. Super quiet. Nice lil hum. But yeah dude, you're right. I forgot to add stuff to my comment.

Haha okay, then I guess we agree. Then again, I have some rackservers for personal use, and noise is not an issue if you stow them in your basement
