Ok so , i saw this thing priced today at 429.99. Man i really want to see some perfomance from this card, anything yet ? I am just wondering who is considering buying this card. I dont believe its a option for my sig rig ( when i upgrade my video soon) If im not mistaken no SLI/ upgrade path with this card. I am sure this will be a cool card for some. I just wonder how it will perform against gtx460's in sli, wich can be had for less, or a little more if you opt for the FTW MODELS.

at this price, I'd consider it a fail, the only market I see for this is gonna have to hit all these reqs:

MUST have Eyefinity/Surround
HATES AMD/ATi no exception
Only has one PCIe slot (mITX?? strangely cheap mATX board?)

Otherwise, MAYBE those who want to beat the GTX580 without paying GTX580 price, and only have one open PCIe slot...

+1 i agree.
I did see the token benchmark , on there site > slightly edging out a gtx580

I wonder if there will be a sli friendly version, after the 6990/590 smoke clears? I guess if you meet all those req, and could live with limited single card performance! It would be cool.

Anandtech has a comparo of the 1 GB SLI GTX 460's against a 580 here: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/314?vs=305

Seeing as though it is SLI on one card, I'd expect to see performance docked slightly. However, the core's are clocked to 700 mhz, so the comparison could be accurate. If you look at it this way, you have a card that can outperform a GTX 580 for ~$70 cheaper.

As I've mentioned before, it'd make a great small form factor LAN rig for a single PCI-e motherboard. The price is a major deterrent but bear in mind not everyone has an SLI motherboard.

the galaxy gtx 480 Super OC was $228 AMIR

and the 1gb Galaxy gtx 460 SLI kit was $260 AMIR

these are essentially the same performance for $200 less

HA HA! I actually looked at that kit. I believe im going as high end as my budget will allow. But i do think thats a decent option for the price, i heard those cards had some heat and driver issues though?

Good point!
I have thought about this for my family rig ( one pci.e motherboard) versus , upgrading my mobo and throwing my 250,s in!! I think if it could sli , i would have considered for my SIG RIG upgrade also!

not those cards... they are stock reference

the cards you are talking about are the GC editions (galaxys removable fan idea). They had the heat issues.

If you can find the Galaxy gtx 480 Super OC for under $300 - there is a $60 MIR for it - comes with an accelero xtreme plus cooler + backplate - so no heat or noise issues

I just bought one for $369 after MIR on the egg for my mini-ITX build. Thanks for the thread guys and for showing the comparisons! smile.gif
