Comment on my pc config.....please!

Thread Starter
I had a Intel pentium d 805....
obviously it does not performs now.... esp the onboard graphics of the mobo d102ggc2.
i tried overclocking it but still not good...
So ive thought of building a new pc.. my aim is that it should be a little bit future proof... so for the first time im going for AMD...
Please tell me if the components i chose are good or not.... my budget is not more than Rs40,000 or $800 /$850...
i know its very less but i want a casual gaming pc... not a hardcore one..........

Processor- AMD Phenom II X6 1055T.
Motherboard- Gigabyte 880GM- UD2H
Memory- Corsair CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz Single
Channel
Hard Disk- Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C Series HDS721010CLA332 1 TB 32 MB SATA 3Gb/s
Monitor- Asus VW227D 21.5 in. Widescreen CCFL Monitor 1920x 1080p
Graphics- XFX Radeon 5750 HD 1gb GDDR5
PC Case- Cooler master k100 with 400 Watts psu.

the rest of the components like mouse, keyboard and speakers would be the old ones only.....

Plzz tell me if there can be any improvement within my budget... 1$= 50 rupees approx...
if you want to check the prices in india.... go to www.bitfang.com

Thanks

A 5750 is quite weak , i would go for a gtx 460/560Ti instead (definity on 1080p) , but more expesive, but worth it, and the psu is quite weak as well, get at least 600-650W for an AMD cpu and gt x 460
For the momory , get a 2x2 Gb kit.
Case , CM advanced II?

Why is your RAM single channel?? Thats impossible with modern mobos and 2x2 kits..

EDIT: Ah, its a single 4GB stick? Better get 2x2, improvement is significant

Here, if it fits in your budget ( +50 $) , get a 560 instead of a 460

I agree with you but you see taht the gigabyte 880gm ud2h motherboard supports 16 gigs of ram... if i buy 2x2 gb ram...and in future i want to upgrade it.... then the 2x2 sticks would be a waste!!! im really on a tight budget!!!!
for future too!!!

You just cant expect a 14 yr old guy to have a huge wallet!!!!

If you're on a really tight budget then i would say get a Phenom II x4, or even x2, instead of an x6. You can get an x4 for a lot less then an x6 and it would perform about the same, if not better, in most games. The x6 would only be a bit better if you are going to be mostly using multi-threaded apps.

You could then use the money saved on getting a better GPU? I would go for the 6870. Very reasonably priced when compared to other GPU's in it's performance bracket. It can max out any game on the display you'll be using.

It'll future proof you too because down the line you can buy a second one and crossfire it, a 6870 crossfire is one of the best GPU combinations on the market at the moment and can only be beaten by 2x6970's (when talking about AMD).

Also maybe go for a Samsung F3 instead of the Hitachi?

And get a better PSU if you really want to future proof yourself. Otherwise you'll end up having to buy a more powerful one when you want to upgrade your other parts or crossfire your GPU. Also take into account the PSU quality because buying a low quality one will run the increased risk of it failing, and if it fails you might lose your entire rig.

As for a case, a good cheap case would be a CM Elite 430, they are around £30.

If you want a better one then i would recommend the CM 690 II, which is around £55.

And remember the best way to future proof your rig is to overclock it!! So get a good cooler, the CM Hyper 212+ is one of the best budget coolers money can buy!

I got my Hyper 212+ for my other rig from the Coolermaster Store (EU) for 12euro!

Also you will never need 16GB of RAM (unless your using it for 3d Design or something.) 4GB is more then enough to run any program, 8GB is overkill. I think you would be better off with a 2x2GB set and then adding a second 2x2GB set in the future. Ending up with a total of 8GB of ram.

first off... id like to say that this pc i think im going to make is not a extreme gamers thing.... not even a medicore...
my dad is a professor in one of the top colleges of india... so he also needs to work on softwares like ansys, matlab, autodesk etc... thats why i chose the x6 as i think it is ggod for these encoding decoding things...
This is the main problem that i need to choose the hexa core model. same is true for the ram.... ansys ,matlab and espcially newer versions of autodesk are meant of 3d modelling!!! even i know that dual channel will work faster... but possibly i could think of 2x2 ram now....
Talking about the gpu..... i agree that 6870 is a supeb gpu, but i wont be able to manage it within my budget... even if i use the phenom x4. Actually i wanted to buy a radeon 6670 hd.... but i dont know when amd is gonna launch them... at present there are OEM models only.
Also the motherboard dosent support crossfire x!!! Just coz its a budget board!!! :-(

I might change the choice of the hard disk to samsung seagate western digital.....

At present i dont think i would be overclocking it... but if i do... i surely will buy a cooler master v6... or freezer 7 pro or something ...

For the powersupply problem... i cannot spend more than rs 5000 or 100$ on both pc case and psu!!!

I wouldn't call a Phenom II system mediocre, it's high end. It wouldn't be extreme but it would definitely be high end.

Mediocre would be an Athlon II or Intel Core2 system.

You didn't say in your first post that you'll be doing 3d modelling, you said it would be for casual gaming.

I'll take this into account and i'll see if i can make a list of parts from bitfang. Give me a few minutes.
