Not Enough Power???

Thread Starter
I'm getting a new graphics card for my sig rig. I currently have a GTX 460 1 gig minimum recommended 450 watts/+12 volts @ 24 amps and I want to SLI an EVGA GTX 460 2Win minimum recommended 700 watts/+12 volts @ 46 amps. I have a Silverstone 1000 watts single rail +12 volt@ 80 amps. Will my powersupply run these two cards? Including an overclock on the CPU, 5 LED fans, 2 lights and 4 hard drives? It sounds like it's going to be cutting it really close but do you think my power supply could handle it?

Thanks for any help!

can't sli a 460-2 win, so you're power supply would be fine to run one. Yes I know it has the connection for the sli bridge, but it will not run in sli. At least according to evga

Oh wow, thanks for letting me know. When I looked at pictures I saw the connection for it and assumed it would work. Do you know if I will have enough power for 3 GTX 460s?

probably, the 460's use 24a. so 72a total load on 3 (you got 80a). wattage to should be fine, I think they only take 220 watts or something each. I just bought 2 460's yesterday and running on a 850w with no problems so far. I mean I don't think you'll be running anything that will max out all 3 cards at once you should be fine. What do you need 3 cards for? I don't think much out there will max out 2 gt460's with a nice overclock (I run mine at 850mhz up from stock 658 (se versions). so far so good.

1000w is way overkill for sli 460s. A good 650w will do.

As other said, you can do 460 sli. gtx460 is a 160w GPU, based on what you have, a solid psu that can pull 50a on 12v should be fine for sli rig.

Yeah your PSU is fine.
