21.5" vs 23" at 1080p

Thread Starter
I'd like to know what benefits I would see by moving up to a 23" from a 21.5" monitor. Will the text be easier to read, or worse? Also, any other improvements or drawbacks?
I personally think you shouldn't go from a 21.5 to a 23"
Of course there will be improvements but you'll be disappointed overall.
Go for a 24"or something that 2560x1600 imo.

text will probably be easier to read, but if you game, you want maximum pixel density/smaller pixels so i'd say stick to the 21.5 inch.

I have a 23" 1080p and I think that is the minimum size I would go with..

1920x1080 on 21.5"? jesus i wouldn't be able to read what i'm typing right now tongue.gif
if you can read text just fine on your current monitor then stick with it, no need to upgrade. if you're wanting a larger screen then take vinton13's advice above and spend your money on a more significant upgrade of 24"+.

I returned an Acer 21.5" with 50,000:1 contrast ratio and purchased an Acer 23" with 12,000,000:1 contrast ratio. You can tell the difference and the image looks crisper.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009255&cm_re=acer_23%22-_-24-009-255-_-Product

I got mine at CompUSA because i have one nearby.

Actually 1920x1080 on 21.5" looks really good... 1920x1080 on an 18" TV is horrible, though.

sure the pixel density is spectacular, but i could never live with the text size. i would most certainly need to enlarge text via Windows.
