Do I need to upgrade

Thread Starter
Hey there.
So after a recent clearing of some defected items, I will be getting a HD6990 and hopefully my CPU cooler fixed. Now, the HD6990 has 750w as recommended PSU wattage, which is what I have currently. If I however want to OC my i7 920 to 4GHz, should I get a higher wattage PSU?

^This.

The 6990 consumes around 340W at full load.

You should have plenty of room if you are only running one 6990.

if u heavily oc your hd6990 then may be u need a higher wattage psu,
I recommend u getting,
Antec high curret pro 900watt gaming series psu,
900watt is a bit more for your setup, but it wont affect u because if u get this psu u can tri fire your hd6990 with a hd6970 in future(IF U WANT TO UPGRADE)
it only costs $140 at newegg,
hope u like my suggestion

A good 750w is way more than enough for one 6990.

Specifically which PSU do you have?

If it's something like Super Cool Max King Performance Plus Ultra Awesome 750w instead of something like a Seasonic you might want to replace it beforehand.

I agree. Much better safe than sorry, if you have the capital for a 6990 then a new psu shouldn't be an issue

My PSU:
http://www.chieftec.eu/index.php?opt...temid=&lang=EN

I might flip on the BIOS2 option on the HD6990, won't OC that more, I only really need to know that I can safely bring my i7 920 to 4GHz.

I was looking at the Corsair TX950, looks pretty good.
