whats the best ceramic paste you speak of?
Leaving it sitting is ok, but the longer it sits, the harder it will be to clean the paste off. A few days hopefully won't make a difference though.

Just make sure to clean really well around the GPU (on the PCB and around the resistor/transistor/electricalthingies) really well, but without physically damaging anything.
