What??? Are you serious....? A FORUM POST means you got banned for a game you PAID TO PLAY. That makes sense to you?

Luckily, I'm too poor to buy games all the time, so I'm almost forced to wait for reviews to come out beforehand. Keeps my nerdrage against the publisher posts down to a minimum.

Ban players from multiplayer -> acceptable with good reason and solid proof.

Ban players from singleplayer -> get a laywer, were coming.

How in god's name can a developer seriously think that they can sell you a game and then just revoke it? TOS applies to forums account NOT to his game. Ban him from the forums... how can you take a game away from a paying customer. What a complete joke.

Just because you bought a game from them doesn't allow you to piss on their TOS. Grow up, learn how to resolve problems in an adult manner, and learn your lesson.

There are no legitimate reasons for pirating anything, ever. There are only excuses.
+1 to both of you

If crap like this happens and you disagree with it, the only effective means of combating it is to not pirate or purchase the product and email EA about why you are not purchasing or pirating their product.

He paid for the game outright. As far as i'm concerned that entitles him to a copy of the game regardless of the means or media he attains it from. I've purchased multiple copies of C&C generals over the years but always find a way to misplace the disks. Over spring break i downloaded a copy and played it on my laptop which is perfectly justifiable because i have purchased multiple copies.

DA2 was geared towards consoles more than the first one. Pirating it out of spite will do nothing but provide justification for Bioware to pop out even more straight ports to the PC market.

I don't agree with EA banning user accounts because of posts on forums at all, but everyone jumping on the piracy bandwagon is pitiful at best.

If you pirate first and then see news like this it makes you feel warm and cozy while you drink your rum!

I don't agree with the actions of the EA forum mods. What they did was way overkill. Were they within their right to do what they did? I don't know because I don't read EULAs or ToS agreements. My bet is this guy doesn't either. His mistake was the nature of his forum post.

That being said, the correct response to being treated like this by a company is NOT TO TAKE ILLEGAL ACTION, but rather to boycott the company's product and spread the word about the FACTS of his situation and how he was treated. If his situation is compelling enough, others may decide to boycott the company as well.

Guys, think positive. If this pisses you off, don't think negative: "I will show HATE to this company and pirate all their games!" Think "I'll show them what I DO like, and only support companies that DON'T do this sort of thing. Maybe even send them an E-mail about my disappointment too."

Companies shift their motivations when they see what makes money. They also shift their motivations when they see piracy...away from that platform.

And yeah, I don't think anyone can argue against how stupid this is on their part.

I don't know -this sounds fishy because if the moderators of the EA forums are actually following the TOS - the user must have been really heaping some abuse on to the other users in an inappropriate way. I don't think it was simply that the user was criticizing EA for something, but rather, had repeatedly crossed some line that lead to this eventuality.

Now if it was just EA being kneejerk about something triffling, then they are obviously in the wrong. I think we just haven't heard the whole story yet.
