HTPC Build Suggestions Please

Ok so I was looking to upgrade my gaming PC but i realized I might as well buy a whole new set of parts and build it from the ground up so i considered turning my old Gaming PC(s) into a HTPC

Right now I have two systems and several parts to choose from. The main things I need to buy are (at least at the minimum):

mATX/mITX Socket LGA775 Motherboard
mATX/mITX Compatible Case
TV Tuner Card

The parts I considered to purchase are:

Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mATX Motherboard

nMEDIAPC HTPC Case

Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1850 Tuner Card

The parts I was currently considering putting into the htpc setup are:

CPU - E6300 or E7200 Core 2 Duo Intel Processor
RAM - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
GFX - Radeon HD 2600 Pro or Radeon HD 4650 (DVI to HDMI Connector)
Audio - Onboard or SB Audigy 2 Platinum Pro PCI card
PSU - Antec 550W

(These will probably need an upgrade to BluRay/SSD/RAID later)
DVD - SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Sata3gb
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200 250gb Sata3gb hdd
HDD - External 2TB USB2.0 HDD

For an HTPC, I don't see the need for an external HDD.

For noise purposes, maybe consider an SSD for your OS drive.

Case is fine. Nice budget one. However, see what fans it uses and get less noisy ones. Fans are usually the first things I rip out of new cases.

thanks for the heads up on the fans. Yea i have all of these parts lying around or thumb-tacked to my over sized bulletin board and i hate hooking my laptop up to my tv via vga cable to watch things so i figure a standalone system would do fine.

the external has a lot of my movies on it right now since i don't have a raid storage computer just yet.

Ok. That makes sense. Did not know about the filled external. Ignore my comment about that then.

The fans on the nMedia cases are very quiet. I actually swapped some of them out when I added my CPU cooler for some higher CFM fans that were listed as being quiet and I ended up swapping back in the nMedia fans. Unless you're going to rip them out and replace them with some Noctua fans (which I feel is cost counter productive) I would just stick with the nMedia fans that come with your case.
