Thread Starter
so when I booted up just now windows tole me it wasnt genuine, which it is.

got the 30$ student windows 7 right from microsoft. installed last summer and it was all normal.

anyone know why out of no where it would think it wasnt legit? under control panel it even shows that it is activated.

No he won't if it still says that its legit under control panel.
And he won't lose access, he will just have to re-enter the CD-key.

I had this issue regarding an OEM Win7 lenovo laptop. It got infected with malware and some how it caused WIN7 to be not genuine.

Maybe do a complete scan to make sure?

i had the problem on my asus u45jc laptop after i got it back from rma. I did a spyware scan and restarted the laptop and that fixed the problem. You can try reactivating it from Control Panel.
