What age range are you looking for? Younger ones can be had but they come with a lot of baggage.... Older ones the looks might be on a decline a bit.

Ohhh... you meant recommend you a new laptop...

You could try the new Pavillion 6's from HP, but if I were to get one, I'd be getting one of the new ProBooks from them, but they're $1300 for the configuration I want...

Lenovo for sure. Great build quality and quick. My work just got me an EOL SL-410 from one of our suppliers and I love it. Its a work machine though, not for gaming. I've seen 1 year old T-series ThinkPads on Craigslist for like $500. T-series are the highest end models.

If you wanna go purely budget, go to Walmart. The gf got an Acer from them about a month ago that was a steal. 15" LED, 2.2Ghz AMD, 4GB DDR3, 320GB, 4250 for $350 Canadian! Windows 7 alone sells for over half that.

Sony good reliability? No not at all.... sony is overpriced and not worth it. I say HP, Lenovo or Dell are all good if you don't buy the cheapest ones. Dell inspirions are cheap for the most part. I like the latitudes (business line). The HP 8440p is a nice business laptop too. Seems really solid.... Lenovo makes some really solid laptops as well. Asus has great specs on some of theirs but i know nothing about them. Of course it depends on what you want to do with it. I would say go with a Lenovo or HP business line if you don't want a dell. If you need discrete graphics, not sure which one is best.... hope that helps...
