From my own personal experience you need no more than 30FPS to have fun online, and some games can do down as low as 15 for single player and still be fun.
Ok, let's define enough.

For me, enough is enough when I don't feel limited by the frame rate in terms of skill. For that, 50FPS should be the bare minimum. You may define enough as "playable". For that, 30FPS is enough for me in any MP game aside from quake/unreal. I just will feel capped the the frame rate until it's higher.

I've played through crysis 1 on 14FPS average. Still enjoyed it. It's not a MP game so it's different.

This guy speaks the truth. Anyone who disagrees hasn't played competitive FPS. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

You payin' for it? Because there's a reason I haven't retired it yet, and it isn't sentimental value.

Enough for me is where I'm having fun. I don't need five kajillion FPS to have fun.

Also what'd you do to Crysis to get 14FPS? I got 30 on average.

The day I play competitively is the day I hang my mouse up and quit gaming.

I HATE competitive play. It takes the fun out of gaming, it makes it feel like a chore, and it ruins the game for other players who aren't competitive. I've got better things to do than take a game seriously. My truck needs repairs, jobs need searching for, my cats need training, and those things are higher priority than playing some boring, samey game for hours on end trying to get 0.1% better. Gaming is something I do to entertain myself, and competition gets in the way of that.

Oh, and it is an opinion. There's no set "This is the minimum FPS to play" point. Different people have different minimums, and for me that's 20-30. Except Garry's Mod, where the norm is 5-10(And a server ping of 300) once my contraption nears completion.

My old rig. Remember that one? Athlon 3800+? Don't ask me how, but that's all it got. I was puzzled myself. Should've been better...

Dude. Learn some tolerance. I completely understand your point, and I am the same way myself. However, I also understand the other side of the argument.

I could do a post similiar to yours claiming that casual gaming is missing all the feeling, all the risk, all the intense scenarios that comp gaming has. All the feeling of developement. Etc... Ya'll have opinions about the subject. You're free to express them here, but don't make it look like you think it's the only correct one.

No offence intended. I'm actually more on your side of these arguments.

And that horrible JFK Impersonator was distractiong
Odd then because I don't even notice. Maybe all the years spent playing Garry's Mod have made me exceptionally tolerant to low framerates? Because the things I build would take an i7 rig and beat it like a red-headed stepchild...
If you've ever seen A Beautiful Mind, it works like that. Secret codes broadcast through numbers.

I have plenty of tolerance. They stay off the server I'm on and I'm good. They show up and I get the hell out, find a server they aren't on. It works nicely as long as nobody suggest I play competitively.

There's a difference between Peggle and playing TF2 just for giggles. Must be, because I've logged over a hundred hours in TF2, with probably half that on the OCN server, and I do not play seriously.
