What are your gtx 560ti idle temps? Mine too high?

Right now I'm getting 40c at idle, with fans set to auto. From what I've been reading, idle temps should be about 10c lower.

I have the msi twin frozr and it's not oc'd at all. What ive also been reading, is that the stock voltage in this card, since it comes oc'd a little from the factory, is supposed to be 1.0x. But my card was set to .98 according to afterburner.

So what's going on here? I seem to be having multiple informational conflicts.

I don't think 40C at idle sounds so high it's a problem, the kind of airflow you've got will make a big difference.

For the sake of comparison, my old setup with a 460 idled at 41C with my current case and at 49C with the case I had before. Right now I sit right around 35C with my 560.

I have a full atx case with a **** load of fans. Two in the front sucking in. Two in the back blowing out. One up top blowing out. And I dremelled holes in the side plexiglas with dual 120mm blowing in. Not sure if there's so much it's causing a weird vacuum, but there is definitely a potential for a lot of air flow.

If you have dual monitors the idle temp will be higher then if you have a single monitor.. With a single monitor Mine idles around 30c auto fan and with dual monitors its around 41c depending on temperature and such. something to do with newer nvidia cards i think from 8800 series on..

Loads temp is what u should be worried about not idle.. Single and dual monitors both have about same loads temps for me around 58c on auto fan speed.

Idle temps mean absolutely bugger all.

Run Furmark or Unigine Heaven then see how hot it runs.

Dual monitors are the culprit, and it's not a big deal.

This. If it's over 90 degrees celsius then you can start to worry - almost. Nvidia chips don't downclock and take damage until around 100 degrees. Everything else is gravy on your magical PC potatoes.

My 570 runs cooler than that But the Phantom cooler is somewhat impressive!

For what it's worth 40c seems too high for me (especially for a Twin Frozr and a case with decent airflow). Should be closer to 30c as you say.

Might want to try setting a custom fan profile through afterburner or something like that.

EDIT:

Could be down to this! Would seem to make sense i guess!

Everything depends on your ambient temps really... right now my 580 is idling at 37c. According to my thermostat, it's about 72f in my room. About a couple weeks ago we were still experiencing winter temps and my 580 was idling close to 30c.

I am currently running mine at 900MHZ and 1.0v with the fan set to 50%. My idle is 32c, but my ambient is about 24-26C. When I run f@h(100% load) on the GPU it runs at about 55-60C.

The fans on this GPU are very quiet and barely noticeable up to 55-60%, so I would fool around with the fan profile. Typically Auto will throttle the fan down to 23-30% when idle. That may be leading to your slightly higher temps.
