As a finance major crytek going multi platform was a very smart move. They are able to take advantage of the much larger console gaming crowd and also the pc crowd. By exposing themselves to a larger market they are much more likely to receive higher profits. So no, I don't hate them.

turns out, the DX11 patch comes out when the GTX 590 releases.

Ok, just got the game from UPS and played for an hour. It is definitely a very fun game. Well worth it on game play alone so far.

However, the first annoyance is they did fix the "Press Enter to Begin" but the very next screen tells you to adjust the brightness on your TV. Also while running fraps, I am getting a consistent 50-55 FPS @1920X1200 on Hardcore mode, with my 5870 (Clocks bumped to 950/1250), and fraps is displaying D3D9 during the gameplay. It is definitely confirmed the initial release is DX9, as I heard some confusion about some of the install files were DX11. The only other annoyances are the fact that there are still only 3 graphics options aside from resolution and there are no more quicksaves, only checkpoints/autosaves.

Overall I am impressed with the visuals and look forward to any more patches that come out. The game runs smooth like butter.

Actually,

Crytek would still eat well even if they didn't release Crysis II on PC... So my question is, why did they bother porting it to PC anyway??

I say I dont mind it being multi plat mainly because the money will go to bigger and better games and optimizations. Look at it in the long run, also More money = longer lasting

I don't hate them at all, I am loving this game so far. I agree with Dragoon. Moving to console is a very smart move for them, and it's going to bring in a ton of revenue and a larger fan base. I don't hold this against them at all...If I were behind the wheel of crytek, I would have made the same decision. I definitely don't feel like they owe us anything, and we should not be judging them based on a smart financial decision. Crysis was a crappy game IMO. The story sucked, and the gameplay wasn't very good either. It was the cry engine alone that set it apart from other FPS games at the time. Crysis 2 has improved on these flaws in my opinion. The gameplay is faster, and is just pure FUN. Who cares if a game is a port if it is a good game. After all, we are playing because we like video games right? A game being a port is not a good reason to immediately dismiss it.

Just my $0.02

Hate is such a strong word, I am disappointed in how Crytek handled the whole thing
leading us on with promises of Graphics beyond what we have seen to date.
Telling us that Crysis 2 would remain true to Crytek's PC roots all the while knowing that it was going to be a port and not a good port, it still has an Xboxy feel to it

I am not against Crytek making a profit, I just wish they had been honest about the nature of the game.

having said that, I am still on the fence about buying this game

Completely agree, Every video I saw showed off the engine and spoke of the most advanced features to date. It was disappointing to have a console port on release, hopefully they redeem themselves via a dx10/dx11 patch.
