Hmm alright then.

The only reason I made that video as an example is because, thats what the crackling in games feels like. Almost exactly when I rotate in STALKER for ex.

I can record some of the game clips and will do later on today after class, such as LoL towers and STALKER, as well as other games in my library. I'll condense them all into seconds clips in one 3~ minute video I guess.

The thing is, it's not only just that video, it's a lot of them that it happens on, regular videos. Maybe the videos aren't mastered right, and I'm just flipping out.

EDIT: Fired up the Crysis 2 Demo today, and I heard frequent cracks in the opening Cinematic with the announcer, not from his voice, but from points in the music. Especially when the words came up in between the action, I'd hear pop pop pop. Couldn't get into an actual game though.

UPDATE

The only reason the games slow down is because FRAPS recorded at 30fps, it stayed a solid 60 ingame.

I honestly don't know what to do at this point, I'm pretty sure the warranty is over as I bought it 3 months ago, so I have a $200 paper weight it seems for a problem that only shed its wings recently.

Also the low frequency thing happens inside of Foobar as well now too. Just noticed it while toying with the volume on one of the songs by The Knife

What are you talking about? Asus has a 3 year warranty on it.

I was not aware. Well then. Money isn't an issue anymore.

Seeing as how I think this is a hardware issue I really can't do anything about it seems, unless the videos help someone else more experienced identify the problem. Does anyone know a good mid-range soundcard that'll work wonders for my A700s? Preferably not by ASUS because I don't want to buy a DG and find out it does the same thing and get all sad. D:

I get the crackle on that Youtube video with my Xonar DX and onboard audio (AD1200). It might not be a sound card issue.
I can tell you something about my experience with Titanium HD and Essence STX.

Anyway, with Titanium HD, I had a buzzing sound in games or whenever the video card would boost to 3d clocks. (not similar to your case) When playing NFS hot pursuit, I could hear the buzzing sound. With STX, I also hear a buzzing sound, but it's much quieter. Almost inaudible. Maybe it's because both of the sound cards were right beneath the video card. In addition, my GT240 has an audible capacitor whine.

If you can test the sound card on a different system and play the same games, that way you can confirm whether it's the sound card or your motherboard.

Take the time to read through the whole thread with my edits, its more of a games issue.

I sure hope not, I had to return my motherboard when I first got it because the BIOS was freezing up, such a pain to disassemble everything. Part of the reason I got this sound card too was that the on-board sound on the return board had a very faint tone in the background, almost inaudible but still enough to warrant me going insane. My brother supposedly had troubles with his on-board sound a couple years ago, bought a sound card and it fixed his problems.

Yes, that is what my games sound like whenever I play them, it's very extreme in some cases such as LoL. :/ Not even on the tower sounds, you can hear it on Veigars W when it lands and a number of other places.

I'd like to see if I can get another card ordered tomorrow, if it works fine I'll send back my Essence. Like I said I'd want to stray away from ASUS in fear of having none of them rid this problem.

UPDATE: Pulled the trigger on the Xonar DG seeing as how my headphones would gain slightly from the more precise low ampage, because they are 64 ohms and I don't really want the best sound in the world. If they work fine, I'll put in the return for the Essence.
