Freezing problem on New Rig - Page 2

Thread Starter
thanks for the tip I will try the new memtest suggested.

@ person with same issue. I changed the voltage on my memory setting it manually to one notch above listed setting (1.5 v suggested on stick, 1.507 manual setting) I did not lock up leaving it on overnight, but I have not been home yet today. Will post again when I get home.

I believe it's the CPU. I had an Athlon 3700+ on a 939 board that would freeze the same way. I fixed it by switching the cpu to a 3500+ and it never froze again.
Time's have changed, and I may be wrong, but if you have a spare Intel cpu lying around, give it a test.

Update, no lock up today computer did go into sleep mode. However, before the computer would always lock up before it reached that point.

So far so good with the manual RAM settings in the bios

Thanks for everyone's help

Person with the same issue here =P
Seems like I solved it as well, but in a different manner...
I checked the ram sticks and they reported difference timings from what they were running. I relaxed the timing from 9-9-9-24 to 9-10-9-27 as suggested. Moreover, I brought the frequency to 1600MHz up from 1333MHz, without changing the voltage. Everything seems fine now, I hope it won't happen again.
Gonna rep some guys that addressed me to the RAM!

Glad it was just ram timings / voltage and not something more serious. Some ram is more sensitive than others, and if you set it just a little too low or too high you'll get all kinds of weird freeze ups and crashes.
