budget upgrade help

Thread Starter
I was planning on getting a 2500k build but that isn't going to happen anymore so what can I do to the computer I have now so that I can atleast play games on low settings? athlon X2 4400+, 2gb DDR2, Ati radeon x1250, 320gb hdd.

I was thinking of just adding 2gb ram and a 5770 or 5670. Maybe oc it to like 2.5 if that will even make a difference.

I suggest u to take hd5770,but make sure your psu can handle it,if not get a decent cheap psu like corsair cx400,
get another 2gb ddr2 ram,
also get a decent cpu cooler like cooler master hyper212+
Hope this helps

Fill in your system specs, so people can see what you are working with.

First priority should be getting a better graphics card.
Since it's free - see what kind of overclock you can get on the CPU while your waiting.

heres system specs:
athlon X2 4400
320gb hdd
2gb ddr2
windows vista home premium
ati radeon x1250

should I get 5770 or go lower? will it be enough to play modern games on medium settings?

put it here
http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

no i got it 4 years ago from futureshop.

in your case, I'd build a new one and sell the old computer for around 100 bucks.

If you're close to a micro center you can get a great deal on cpu+mobo combo for about $63 bucks. add 4gb of ddr3 ram for $40. 430cx psu for $25. hd5770 for $100 after MIR. That'd be around $228 and if you sell your old pc for $100, then you'd only have to invest $128 to get a brand spanking new gaming pc.

edit: i forgot to include an hdd... so $40 added to the investment
