What mobo are you using for the PII?
For something THAT old, usually overclocking was done via jumpers physically on the board.

I am not entirely sure what mobo it is. It is the stock one in which the gateway 2000 model came with. Is there a place on it I can check because i do not see a name.

OEM motherboards will most likely not have that option at all. Something that old you may find something for but you'll have to do quite a bit of searching. Look at the board for the manufacture and model/revision numbers. Then start searching Google.

On that specific model...there were NO options to overclock. I had the same model, back in the day, and I eventually gave up trying to OC it....sorry man, but that PII isn't going to get any faster than what it is

Thanks a lot man. I really appreciate your help. I will give up now and save some time. =) I will find another free computer to test overclocking with.

I made an old Pentium 3 into a domain controller this weekend, it has a VIA motherboard with dipswtiches on it, I had it overclocked from 750Mhz to 900Mhz but it was not stable very long so I had to clock it back..

If you really want to get into legacy computing look around for a motherboard, it will likely be free or VERY cheap.
