Which card to max out ALL games at 1080p? - Page 4

the 570 will be ok too...

I have a GTX 570 Direct CU II by Asus. on Very High settings, its drops down to like 26 FPS... and supposedly Metro 2033 is poorly optimized.

just get something in your budget because "you get what you pay" always holds it stance. Oh and in today's pc gaming, a single card never been able to max out any games for 1-2 years... LoL sad truth yes.

30 fps is crap. Some games run verty jerky at just 30 fps. Also maxing a game includes maxing all options and that includes AA which really kills performance.

My suggestion is to get the fastest card you can get your hands on

I am deciding between the 570 and 580, since both will play the games I want... I am leaning towards 580 because it is in my budget but 570 results in a cheaper build overall... Hmm probably the 580... I feel like the 570 is probably more than enough for me though, so who knows (: Also, I have stated I want a single card and even though it won't "max" all games I am fine with that I suppose. Human eye cannot make HUGE distinctions past 24 fps and 30 FPS is considered the "golden number" I believe. I will be plenty happy turning down some settings in the most demanding of games.

Bear in mind the semi-common issue with the 570's. It's well documented on this site, actually.

Due to, if I recall correctly, not enough power phases, at high overclocks the VRMs have a tendency to catch fire and melt. Look it up on here, my explanation isn't the best as I don't know too much about it, but it's common enough to have a large thread in it. Called "Have you killed a 570?", if I remember, search it.

I'd get the 580 if it's within your budget, the 570 would be good but not AS good. Plus there is the issue I just said, although I'm not too clues up on it.

Guess it boils down to if you want to really save $100, which would buy you a crate of beer, a few nights out and a (very) cheap hooker, at te expense of a slower, slightly poorer made card.

the human eye on a 60hz monitor cant make distinctions past 60 fps. 30-40 fps is the minimun playable, and 50+ is playable. you could wait for the 590, it should be a good recommendation but it should be 200 dollars more than the 580

The 590 has already been listed on a few sites for, if I remember correctly, $799.99. Bear in mind, that's a DUAL GPU card, and the OP was (assumably) looking for a single GPU. Plus, that'd be a monstrous waste of both the card, and money, at 1080p. The cards performance would be bottlenecked by the resolution.
