Dont get me wrong, the 2600K is a great chip! Now if SB had a 6 core then it would be game over for 990x or 980x. BTW the 990x is just the 980x with a bumped multi, and def not worth it over the 980x. Also I hear the X68 chipset will be very very expensive!

According to a few sources, the 990X also features an improved IMC.

Ya I hear the 990X was cherry picked 980X, and can do 4000+MHZ on NB, guaranteed 4.5GHz+.

I am bored with my 1090t and the intel cpu's smoke it even with only water cooling. I've seen some nice 980x chips used for a decent price that's why I asked. My cascade wont be fixed until the end of april so I have time to think about it before I decide. I mainly just run benchmarks and it seems like I might enjoy the 980X the most. BTW when is bulldozer going to be released, I've kind of given up hope:D

Actually there's a bit more to it than that, but due to your Troll thread, I'm not going into further details. tongue.gif

If you're going Xeon's, might as well wait for the 10 cores to come out. Just imagine, 20 cores, 40 threads. eek.gif

+1 on the 990X, it's more than simply a multi bump 980X.
People with 980X upgraded to 990X, I will say that much.

Do you guys have hard proof of this? I have been searching google and cannot find anything besides forum posts that say the opposite....
