That's what I thought. Thanks dixson for all your assistance.

Install the OS, get Hardware monitor or similar and check temps again, make sure to let the CPU load go down to 0 with CnQ enabled.
Sounds good, that seems to be the consensus moving forward. Will install OS now and report back.

Thanks to everyone for all of the help.

I once had high idle temps too on an Athlon II x2 build. Turns out my thermal paste spread was bad, didn't use enough (MX-3 spreads hard!) and it only went to one side. Reseated with more TIM in an X-pattern rather than dot.... win.

Interesting... How big of an X are we talking about? I'd like to give this a try.

Thanks xd

X o

If the blob you put on the CPU was that size or about that smaller, the X should be that size. The "X" may look a bit more blobby than an X but it should work better. It also depends on your thermal paste; I use Arctic MX-3, it and the variants do not spread as easily. Whereas Arctic Silver 5 spreads easily I think.

Ah gotcha. I am using Arctic Silver 5. I will give the X a try anyways... Thanks xd.

My ArcticClean 1 and 2 are certainly getting a fair amount of use at this juncture hehe.

Well it must have been a bunk idle sensor via bios as HWMonitor is reading around 23 degrees.

Thanks to all that have helped. I did not realize that there could be the case of having it be incorrect in this manner in bios. My eyes have been opened.

Thanks again to all.
