Crossfire 5870 on a Single Monitor

Thread Starter
I am currently running a 1GB HD5870 on a single monitor. Is it worth it to add another 5870 for Crossfire if I am only going to be using one monitor? I am mostly playing BFBC2 right and am wondering if another card will really help my performance with all of the eye candy turned on.

Very

You'll see an 80% fps increase in BC2.
Single I get 60-120, CFX gets 80-200.

I couldn't run 8x AA smoothy at 1080 with my 5870, I just picked up another a month ago. Now it's a beast and I can run anything at any setting.

The 5870's are really going down in price and they are still beastly cards, it's pretty cost effective to get a 2nd at this moment. There are alot of used ones floating around in the for sale section. I got one for $190 shipped.

if you dont want to get another 5870 you could even get a 5850 or 5830 and that would still be awesome.

As an avid CrossfireX enthusiast, from 5850 CF to my current 6990 CF, CrossfireX/SLi is the way to game.

Here is some good tips to get the most out of your CrossfireX experience.

1.) In CCC Under "Gaming", in "3D Application Settings", check the box under "Catalyst A.I." to "Disable AMD CrossfireX™ power settings"

2.) run Regedit and search for "EnableUlps" (no quotes) and set from "1" to "0" (Do this for the subfolders: 0000, 0001, etc, depends on how many cards you have 0000 being your main GPU)

Enjoy.

P.S. : You will need to reboot for any of the changes to take effect.
