First of all, go to Control Panel and fill in the system specs on the left panel.

BC2 and BF3 benefit from multi-core CPUs.

A dual core would work but don't expect to play on high settings.

Also, what kind of a budget are we talking about?

Can't recommend a processor until we know the rest of your system. Same with a video card...need to know what PSU you have.

Any dual core CPU won't play BFBC2 or likely BF3 very well past medium-ish settings. Both of those games use quad cores fully.

If you want a quick answer, if you mostly game you should get an AMD Phenom II X4 965 with 4 cores unless you do encoding or intense multithreading then you should get the Phenom X6 1090T that has six cores.

but since you said cheap, the lowest quad core will run you only about $100 is that AMD Athlon II X4 640 which you can find here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103871

For 100 dollars the Phenom II X4 820
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-824-_-Product

4mb l3 cache and can overclock decently (C2 revision). Outperform Athlon II X4 clocked similarly because of the L3 cache..

bfbc2 prefers tri and quad cores over dual cores. It will utilize all the cores.

I recommend the quad core too for the next battlefield 3.Iam right now on a 2,9GHz triple core and its already at 90% all 3 cores for bad company 2.
