no need to reinstall WHS i presume...

i will follow the steps from

"Run the home server console and add the new disk to the storage pool.

It will now format the array to an 2TB MBR basic partition."
and so on

getting some kind of error

change to D:\folders\{00008086-058D-4C89-AB57-A7F909A47AB4} and run the following command
fsutil reparsepoint delete Commit.dat"

==

I have tried this exact step on 2 different test WHS machines, and in both cases, the cmd returns with either:

"The handle is invalid"
*or*
"Access is denied"

ok so something is realy not working here.

i followed the exact steps

Run the home server console and add the new disk to the storage pool.

It will now format the array to an 2TB MBR basic partition.

Now open Explorer, goto C:\\fs copy the C folder to your desktop. Do not copy the System Volume Folder.

Close the explorer window

Goto Services and stop drive extender and virtual disk services (this will stop other WHS services).

Open disk management and delete the partition that was created on the array disk (this will take a bit of time and select yes when it says that other processes/services may be using the partition)

You will now see two unallocated regions of the disk.

On the left side right click on the disk and click convert to GPT volume.

Right click in the same place and click dynamic disk.

no you see the whole disk as one unallocated volume ( in my case I saw 2.97TB )

Right click on the unallocated space and click new partition/volume

The volume label needs to be set to DATA

Check quick format (if you are sure the disks are ok)

The volume needs to be mounted to a folder and select "c:\\fs\\c" as the folder.

Now copy the contents of the c folder that is on your desktop back to the c:\\fs\\c folder.

Restart the system.

-----

when i check WHS console,it says backup service is not running.. so i go into C:\\fs\\F and delete the files in the folder.. then i check WHS console again and there are two drives showing (the same drive).. one shows missing, other shows not connected... so when i try to remove the missing one, and add the other one, it reformats the GPT, making it back to 2TB of usable... i check back in disk management and 1.3TB is unallocated....

geeezuS!!!!

ok so i went an alternative route..

deleted my DATA virtual disks 0 (3.3TB) and created two smaller ones... 1.999TB and 1.35TB..

question, so when it backs up to the 1.999TB and it's full, will it automatically switch to backup to 1.3TB?

also, for some reason my remote access doesnt seem to be working...

in router gateway, i port forwarded 8080 (port 80 may be blocked) and 4125 as well as 443... however it stills gives me an error about

I’m using a router along with my ISP provided device. I am unable to access my Remote Access website. The Windows Home Server Console reports that my website is unavailable from the internet.
a. What is likely occurring is that your network is operating in what is referred to as a “Double NAT” configuration. Your ISP provided device as well as the router that have connected are interfering with each other. You can either remove the router, or check your ISPs support website to find out how to place their device into what is called “Transparent Bridge Mode.”
