Alrighty, best upgrade for me?

Current Config :
Processor - Q9650 @ 3.8ghz 1.26v
Ram -4 GB Corsiar Dominator 1066mhz @ 2.1v
HD - 7200rpm WD 500gb
Video Card(s) - 2x GTS 250 1GB
Power Supply - 850w Toughpower

Ok well i built this rig about 2-3 years ago and it seems like im getting the itch to build/upgrade. Have around 500-600$ to work with.

The computer is a gaming rig, occasional folding. OCing is fine.

I want to see a noticeable frame rate increase in 1920x1080 gameplay; mostly in Battlefield BC2,Battlefield 3,Metro 2033

Tossed the idea around of a new MB/CPU/RAM (realize im going to be spending more than my budget)

or single beefy VideoCard 6950/gtx570 with one of the 250 as a physx card

You're not going to be able to do CPU/Mobo/RAM/GPU all on that budget so you're going to have to pick a route.

Your CPU is still serviceable with a nice OC, so I would go with a graphics card update and then pool your money for the future to update the rest of it.

If you can expand your budget a bit, you could do both, but as of right now the GPU upgrade would yield the best results.

If you want a single card, and you're going to game at 1080p, the winner is probably 570, being that it will leave you money in the bank to build up a bankroll for the rest of the upgrades. This also leaves you more expansion room for the future (570 SLI).

If you want the best bang for your buck, its a 460 SLI ($300 used or open box, total) or a 560 SLI ($~500 new). I would go with a 460 SLI at that resolution personally, it is still a powerhouse at that 1080p. 460 SLI edges 580 here so the choice is pretty easy.

After that, just save up and go Sandy Bridge - i5-2500k + P67 Mobo + 4 GB DDR3 1600 (Total will be around $450 for that).

I would say video card if you using only 1 monitor @ 1080p res. And if you do get a newer cpu/mobo/ram I would recommend getting more then 4gb especially if your running a 64bit OS, as having more then you need in ram is better then not having enough. And you will definaltey need more ram if you do bigadv WUs on a SB cpu, but that is if you are a 24/7 folder then never mind

depending if your mobo support CF or SLI, get either 2x6870's or 2 x 560's. Will get decent increase in frame rates.
GTX 570 would be your best bet. Unless you can afford a i5 SB system.
Yes, a few good GPUs (whichever brand, AMD-nVidia) and your biggest bang for your buck would be a SSD. You won't believe the increase in speed they give.
