LOL @ $1000 laptop as "entry level". Just puts their prices into perspective.

I know what a mac can and can't do versus a PC, and you all should too.

Forum link in the source seems to be the 17" i7 quad MBP. I think...

I'm not surprised, I've never heard of Apple putting forth much effort on component cooling. Even if it's not a driver/temperature problem, I'm still disappointed. Spending that much on a laptop should at least include a larger chunk of metal...

Apple is 70% appearance, 30% function IMO. And about those people saying a $400 laptop can surf Facebook, I do it on my phone tongue.gif And a netbook that's probably worth as much as a loaf of bread today.

Bravo Apple.

By making the computers overheat under heavy use, Apple is simply encouraging their users to stick to easier and simpler tasks, like browsing facebook and uploading desaturated photos to deviantart. They just don't want their users to feel frightened or intimidated by more complicated tasks. If you ask me, it's pretty innovative.

It's a feature that lowers power consumption, extends battery life and makes the computer more 'green'.

Not surprising really...

^ This. You can sell something pretty to a Liberal Arts student... and it plays itunes.

My i7 13" mbp isn't having this problem. I've been playing WoW on it for about 2 weeks now.

Is this only on the 17" i7s?

Well duh. Dual Core compared to Quad core, and of course a bigger GPU.

Also everyone posting "Mac users should have gotten a $800 laptop instead of 2k for a mac to browse Facebook" should just stop. I bet most of you are doing the same thing with your $2k desktops browsing Ocn when a cheaper 1k pc can do that just as well.

Agreed on all points. My i7 15" MBP has not crashed at all since I've had it.

Anyone else find that a program named "Handbrake" crashes the laptop? I know it's not the program directly.
