Help with first build! xoxo - Page 2

Go with the case that Dragnel posted its amazing perfect for LAN parties

The build is solid now i would get this for the video card if you dont get the 5770
if you changed the case and saved about 70 bucks

Get this card though youll want to spend the extra cash on it
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127545

The best part about your build though and really thinking about this for a new project is that the onboard video can be used while you save up for a new graphics card so you can switch out graphics cards and upgrade
Just some food for thought

THis build is solid perfect for what you want and overclocking can be done to really good clocks with the h50

EDIT::: SPEED OVER SIZE when GAMING especially at lan parties....Remember 1TB f3 drive is good yes but for YOUR OS, movies musik photoshops games vegas studio, itunes firefox torrenting that drive will get very slow so having a primary drive for OS and GAMEs is perfect then get a secondary drive at 1TB or more if you want to store musik movies and other such of that material

As for the cable management Mike, i was looking at cable sleeving. It sounds like it'd take a long time but I figure it would provide good airflow for all those electronics packed into such a small case.

Andypc: sanbridge, 2x00k, bulldozer...i'm lost hun.
One at a time:
The 150GB is faster than the 1.5TB thats why its more $$$.
The Cpu cooler replaces the stock cooler.
Cable management does provides a better airflow although in small case not so much.
Sandybridge is an Intel's new CPU - 2x00 is the cpus numbers.
Bulldozer is the next gen of AMD cpus waiting to be released in the near future. hope it helped
You should be aiming at the mATX models (the compact ones) if you to carry it around at parties. Although not sure that they are so cheap compare to the normal ATX ones.

P.S. BTW you should check the sale section here - for dirt cheap you could find great components.

Also, I'd just go with something similar to what Odin2free suggested, perhaps a different case if wanting to go to LANs (perhaps the case he suggested is small enough, but it looks a little too wide idk though), perhaps this... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146065

An SSD is not necessary.. but if you dont need much space for installed programs and would like faster speeds get one.
What are you endorsing about his build ?? Be more specific just the case? I do believe there is better RAM Than 1333, for that price. Also if she dosent plan to overclock the stock cooler should be fine ! (correct me if im wrong)

sandy bridge is Intel new processors, they come in 2500k and 2600k , the k stands for unlocked. Bulldozer is the name of the processors coming out soon from AMD .

Intel Sandy Bridge (2nd generation core i5/i7) are extremely affordable at the moment. A 2500k chip would run you about 230.

With some cases they have a back compartment ,and slots to run the cables behind ,this not only looks better , but helps with airflow. Some cases are one single compartment, cables everywhere ( OH MY) You will thank yourself if you get a little better case ( trust me)

Speed over Size (this is important for the OS you dont want to be laggin and having slow gaming experience now do ya?) with a TB having tons of things on one drive is chaos....

Bulldozer is AMD new CPU that is coming out

Sandybridge hmmm ya moving on...

Show me some better ram for lowerprice

Gskill is good ram along with mushkin, kingston and crucial...crucial has ballistix ram (has led lights and such ) plus are really good timings....

IF she is not planning on over clocking THEN YES she can stick with the stock cooler and save the 71 bucks......
BUT from what it looks like and what every single new user i have seen come on this site asking for builds and such THEY ALL WANT TO OVERCLOCK(hence the sites name ) just an opinion.......

Thread Starter
Thank you viper, crystal clear

Dragnel, i'm in <3 with your choice, I guess i'm a fan of micro's, i don't mind the price difference.

I don't think i'll need an SSD either

Thank you for clearing up the velociraptor pricing. Shouldn't take me too long to afford a slow hard drive

RAM and 1333? What does ram do?

What else...is there any difference between XFX 6870 and Twin Frozr 6870(spelling?) besides brand names.

And yes, i plan to overclock once i figure how the hell a pc works lol

You guys are all so helpful thank you, thank you, thank you!

Around $725. But then you need to take into consideration postage also mouse & keyboard or monitor if needed.
