Asus p8p67 Pro Ram and Silver Arrow? Positioning?

Thread Starter
HI,

I was looking at getting either a Noctua NH-D14 or a Thermalright Silver Arrow. However, when I looked at the fan then the motherboard, I started to wonder if the Silver Arrow (mostly) would effect the ram slots? I was thinking about either getting G.Skill or Patriot Sector 5. Would they work with the Silver Arrow in a Lancool K62 case with a Asus p8p67 Pro board? Because they seem like they would cover up the ram slots.

Also, I was wondering for the case (lancool k62) would it be better to have the fans facing downwards and upwards? To drag some hot air away from the GPU?

GPU:6950
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Pro (or the ASRock Extreme 4)
Case: Lancool K62

Thanks!

If your ram is taller than the ones on the pictures of this link, you may want a different cooler. But I think Patriot Sector 5 might be taller than standard GSkill ripjaws. Ripjaws will fit, I don't think sector 5's will.

The HSF will probably cover one or even two memory slots.. If you're lucky your memory heatsinks may be small enough to fit under it, but dont count on it as these HSF are HUGE.
Maybe the Ripjaws will fit, idk.

About the positioning, you Don't want the CPU Cooler pulling hot air from the GPU.. that'd result in worse temps and probably will not help at all. You want the CPU pulling fresh, colder air from the front or the side of the case, and pushing it into an exhaust fan on the back of the case.
