It sounds like it is linked to the virtual USB controller somehow trying to hook into the physical USB controller and its getting a panic.

oh, derp. I didn't even see that he mentioned usb in the error. try turning off the controller like Jedi said, but if that doesn't do anything for you check this out:

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/185557

that's for XP though. also, are you folding on your sig rig or an older machine? because i've heard that VMware doesn't like working with USB 1.1

Hey guys I plan on trying this out along with a friend we have used linux in the past but are by no means experts or super familiar with it. I think for this purpose I would rather just install a non GUI x64 linux distro and have been out of the loop for years what are the recommended distros for ease that is my only request ease and make sure it works.

I am most familiar with Ubuntu and a few variations of it, does DSL and puppylinux and any other small ones worth it? Fedora x64 seems recomended by jedix is this still the case?

thanks guys I will gladly post any issues and feedback I get using using this.

i did it on several different versions of ubuntu, archlinux, and fedora. I also used a non-gui build that i dont particularly remember the distro's name of. but this pretty much will work on any distro. at least it's worked on every one i've tried.

ok thanks for the quick reply now according to the EST PPD my numbers seem to be ranging from 13,000-32,000 PPD typically being almost abovev 20k. Switching to a linux VMware and using the settings in this thread while also enabling the bonus points I am currently only up to 5 WU i think a simple guess howmuch more points could I get if my CPU was at OC4.8 and had the 460 running as well or do we only use the cpu?

thanks i wont ask anymore personal questions here unless they are linked to the thread topic

Fedora is great but if you need help with nix most people here use ubuntu (unfortunately).
